That’s right people, GetAir is coming back, and with a vengeance. Our short hiatus, due to a serious lack of time, is now over, due to a serious surplus of time. Not quite yet, but check in soon for some of the good ol’ stuff you know you miss.

So, for now, sit tight. We’ll be back shortly.

Gene Simmons Talks, Awesome Interview

August 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This is a Gene Simmons interview on NPR.  It’s one of the more interesting interviews I’ve ever heard.  Gene Simmons knows what he’s talking about.  He has wisdom, and its damn, dirt, honest wisdom.  I gotta say, Gene is just a bit of what most people would call a “douche” in the way he answers some of the questions, but the girl interviewing him is, as Gene noted, “defensive.”

Honestly though guys, this is a really good interview.  Do listen to it.

Bigfoot Update: Seemingly bullshit.

August 15, 2008 · 3 Comments

So I didn’t go to the bigfoot press conference today. I decided to continue living my life. But I read the news, and apparently these assholes didn’t prove much of anything, other than to assure reporters that they have a bigfoot carcass. Did I call it? Way to get your fifteen in the spotlight, guys. Now go play in traffic.

Generation Kill (Verdict: Double Yes)

August 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

If you haven’t seen this HBO mini-series about our debacle-fiasco over there in Iraq, you need to.  From the same badasses who created the other hit HBO series, The Wire, Generation Kill is an accurate portrayal of the type of S that goes on over in Bush’s sandbox.  With plenty of undercurrents and subtle yet strong biases, the crunchy, real life show goes where other shows have failed to reach.  Airing Sundays on HBO, catch the 5th of 7 parts this weekend.  Hit the link for their sweet website.

And for a musical supplement:

Impeach The President – Immortal Technique ft. [everyone]

If I Was President – Wyclef Jean (Presidents are elected on Tuesday right?)

Bin Laden – Immortal Technique ft. Mos Def

Get ready for The Hold Steady

July 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I almost feel like I HAVE to do this post about The Hold Steady because 1) they’re so damn good and 2) if I don’t, we’ll be way behind in the biz.  Dropping their 4th album, Stay Positive, amongst the ides of July (that’s mid-July for those of you who don’t know better), The Hold Steady has found the spot light and seem like they’re here to stay.

The first thing I’d like you to do is check them out.  Literally, check them out (click for a bigger version).  Now, does anyone think these guys are heroes for proving music can be made by guys who look like they could work in cubicles all day? Or maybe not, maybe they aren’t even at that level (sorry guys, remember, you’re heros, nothing less… respect).

Next, check out their beats.  First thing you notice, as with “Most People Are DJs,” is that they have a lighter, happier sound, but they have some rock behind it.  Their stuff really kicks.  They almost seem like a combination of a “rock” band with an alternative band.  Power cords meets nice little melodic jingles.  Punk meets Zeppelin, even.  Super.

Then, the lyrics. HERE is where they make their bucks.  Please don’t take my word for it, check out their songs (I included some below, oh joy!) and pay attention to their lyrics.  Because c’mon, for a few guys from Brooklyn, they’re damn good, and they have definitely found their niche.  No, scratch that, they made their own niche.  Good job, boys.  Keep up the inspirational work.  You’re all heroes.

P.S. Go get their album.

Defective By Design reaches, resets, and redefines the epitome of LAME

July 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

Defective By Design is a wanna be anarchist, anti-DRM organization of hooligans and hoodlums who had Limewire or Kazaa or whatever else taken away by their parents, got a job at Gamestop, earned some money, grew up but not really, got bored, and decided they wanted to screw with the system.  Their object of aggression is DRM, the super secret special digital means to protect digital media.

How do they plan to fly their glorious colors, to plead their case? On Friday and Saturday this week, the idiots over at DbD plan to clog up Apple Genius Bar spots.  Uh huh, they will reserve all the spots for those two days, and in addition, bring a “questionnaire” with them to ask their poor, unsuspecting Apple Genius.

Honestly guys, is this really how you want to do this? Anyone will tell you, all you are is being annoying and only in the sense of “these morons are here because they’re pissed at the world, while I can’t get my laptop fixed so I can go to work because they have taken up all the genius bar spots.”   C’mon, get a life.  Or at least get a real way to voice your voice in a way that doesn’t make the rest of us suffer.

Please…
